COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST

Lexent Bio seeks an exceptional Computational Biologist with experience in cancer research to improve the treatment of cancer through diagnostics. The successful candidate will join a growing team developing novel approaches for sequencing and analyzing nucleic acids from cancer patient blood and tissue samples. These methods will be employed to answer specific clinical questions, changing the way cancer treatment happens.

 

Role:

 

  • Analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets, including data generated with novel experimental methodology from patients undergoing cancer therapy

  • Apply machine learning and data science techniques to high value clinical data sets

  • Use biological insights of cancer biology to guide scientific and experimental design decisions

  • Collaborate with leading clinicians, scientists, and software engineers to develop novel, cutting-edge diagnostics

  • Communicate thinking and findings with stakeholders including colleagues, collaborators, and advisers

 

Preferred background:

 

  • Independent scientific mindset, multidimensional thinker

  • A successful scientific track record, preferably in the field of cancer genomics

  • Experience analysing large NGS datasets

  • Experience in statistics, machine learning, and data science

  • Highly adept coder with knowledge of Python and version controlled software development

  • Driven to face some of the hardest problems at the intersection of data science and unexplored cancer biology
